Defying Gravity: A Wicked Experience

Four years ago, while attempting to determine if I wanted to minor in Theater, I took a theater class. I had already taken an acting class, which I really enjoyed, but this theater class was seriously one of my most enjoyable classroom experiences from my college tenure. It was in that class that I first discovered -and fell in love with- Wicked.
I bought the soundtrack. My b.friend/[former] roommate and I memorized every. single. word. We did innumerable duets. She is always Galinda. I am always Elphaba. In 2006 we dressed up as [our versions] the duo for Halloween. [It was the best we could do on college student budgets.]

Contrary to our duet parts, she was Elphie and I was Galinda for Halloween. I'm glad she decided to just have green eyeshadow instead of doing her entire body green. That would have been a lot of work...

I. love. this. musical. I tried for years to see it. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrsss.

Well, guess what?? Last weekend I SAW IT. It was even better than I had always hoped it would be. Absolutely amazing. The cast was wonderful. The orchestra was wonderful. Our seats were wonderful good. The company {my little sissy} was wonderful.

So thankful for my favorite aunt who read about the ticket lottery in the paper. And so thankful to my favorite mommy for being selfless and bowing out when we could only get two tickets. Love you both.

Can't wait to see it again in Richmond in March with Cody. Don't forget, honey - tickets go on sale December 4th!!

  2. This is my second favorite musical of all time (Phantom of the Opera is first). I got to see it on tour a year and a half ago when it was in Cleveland. Oh my gosh, it was so amazing!! I went with my whole family. Luke reluctantly went expecting to sleep all night, and he was so surprised when he loved it! It was just so hilarious, and had something for everyone. Glad you finally got to see it! I'm sure it was worth the wait :-)
