Tomorrow my sister and I will be participating in Sacramento’s Out of Darkness Walk*
to honor our dad who died in 2008.
I’ve written about my dad several times before.
{You can see a list of those posts here}
It is my hope that the underlying theme in those posts is that
God is faithful.
My dad’s suicide was a horrible, awful experience
But God never left us.
He took care of us.
He has and still is healing us.
I feel confident that you can look back to a time in your life when God has been faithful.
A season or a situation that He walked you through.
“He was faithful before, He’ll be faithful again.”
{Watch this video from this band that I went to college with but – full disclosure – didn’t know any of the members...I did see them perform a few times though.}
God has given both his promise and his oath.
These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie.
Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.
It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Hebrews 6:18 – 20, New Living Translation
*84% of the funds raised support suicide prevention programs and research,
A cause that is near and dear to our hearts.
{16% is used by AFSP for administrative costs and fundraising.}
Did you know that
every 16 minutes in the U.S., someone dies by suicide and more than 20 million people suffer from depression each year?

I know that there are thousands of causes begging for your money
And I know that Christmas is right around the corner
So money is probably tight.
But if you feel so led to give a few dollars,
I would really appreciate it.
Money can be donated until December 31, 2011.
