I really love the devotional Jesus Calling.
Today's passage especially spoke to me.
I don't ever want to give the impression that
I'm saying that my life is "perfect"
or that I don't struggle with things.
I'm thankful that God is faithful
to use my story to impart wisdom and help others
but I am not free from sin or from trials.
Today is a particularly rough day and I'd love your prayers, friends.
Since JC is copywritten material
I can't share today's passage in its entireity
but I do want to share my favorite parts.
"When things seem to be going wrong, trust Me. When your life feels increasingly out of control, thank Me. These are supernatural responses, and they can lift you above your circumstances...Cry out to Me in My Name! Affirm your trust in Me, regardless of how you feel. Thank Me for everything, though this seems unnatural - even irrational.... If you choose supernatural responses this time - trusting and thanking Me - you will experience My unfathomable Peace."
Jesus Calling, October 3
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. - Psalm 13:5
...always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. - Ephesians 5:20
How often is that our actual response,
to thank God when everything seems to be going wrong?
{If it if yours, I commend you but it is not usually mine!}
We are encouraged to trust God, not matter how we feel.
While that's not always easy, that's my challenge for you and for me today.
His word says in Ephesians 3:20 that
he is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.
The dictionary defines "immeasurably" as "limitless" and "incapable of being counted".
So that means that God's power to work in us
and to save us is limitless; so big that it cannot be measured.
Let's trust Him for that today.
Let Him give you that unfathomable peace that the passage talks about.
Doesn't that seem better than the alternatives?
If you're struggling today too
I'd love to pray with you and for you.
Send me an email.
[Edited to add:] Right after I posted this Kari Jobe's Healer came on my Pandora. At one point in the song she says, "Nothing is impossible for you."
Yes! I claim that.
I hope this song blesses you.
